Man bitten by a Shark in South Carolina

A man has been bitten by a shark in South Carolina.

The 35-year-old man was in knee-deep water on Monday off the coast of Sullivan’s Island when he was bitten around 4:15 p.m.

A 3-foot-long shark, possibly a sand shark, caused non-life-threatening injuries.

The unidentified vacationer was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Two other bites occurred in the same area in 2015. On May 15, 2015 a 30-year-old man was bitten by sand shark while swimming and on June 20, 2015 a 12-year-old was bitten while swimming near Palm Boulevard

There have been a total of forty-five shark attacks bites in 2016. Five of which were fatal. Eighteen reported in the US, with twelve occurring in Florida. Ten have occurred in Australia, three of which were fatal.
